Congratulations to Tia, Dan, Tinevimbo and Joshua on their successful completion of the Trinity College London Bronze Arts Award.

The Arts projects they produced were described by the examiner as exceedingly engaging and informed. Well done for all your hard work!!!! Mr Hayes.

Mr Hillier & Mrs Knapp took a group of GCSE students to the New Walk Museum to help with their primary research for their Art Projects.

Despite the dull day they found the trip extremely useful!

Students were given a challenge to use a digital photography package such as Picsart or Photopea to create a surreal image using their own photographs. They had one week to complete the challenge and this formed part of their photography coursework project of Basic Photography techniques.

Well done to Adrian in Year 12 and Zainab in Year 9 for their super winning shots!

On Friday 5th November, we hosted the Eco Schools Roadshow for a small group of students from 2 of our feeder primary schools – St Thomas More and St John Fisher – learning how to look after our planet.

33 shoeboxes were filled for this years Shoebox appeal. Thank you to all staff and students who contributed!

14 year 11 pupils took part in the D of E Bronze Award.

Pupils walked 14km each day and navigated around the Harborough area.

Day 1 they started off in  Hungarton making their way to the campsite in the Tilton area. When they got to the camp they certainly enjoyed a well-deserved rest once they had pitched tents, cooked tea for themselves and roasted marshmallows around the camp fire. Pupils slept well throughout the night and the weather was really good to us.

Day 2 Pupils started to make their way to Launde Abbey. Despite the rain, high winds, few tears and heavy load all Year 11 pupils supported each other to reach their final destination. It was a great success.

Thank you to Ms Pinel who gave up her weekend accompanying the students. She said “Students were amazing, they really embraced the walk especially in testing conditions and worked exceptionally well in their teams, supporting each other whilst also having fun.” A special thank you to Teej and his team of instructors from cogyouthservices.co.uk for leading all the groups.

It was an amazing experience and I learnt a lot! I think the most important thing was that I do have the ability to persevere when things get tough!”

‘Hard work but worth it!’

“I can see a lot of sheep!”

“It was a really good experience. I learnt some essential life-skills, particularly the ability to map-read.”

We will be launching the DofE Bronze Award to Year 9 & 10 pupils in the next couple of weeks. If you are interested please contact Ms Pinel.

Good Luck to our Bronze DofE group going out today.  Have an amazing time!

Opening doors and raising aspirations at our Uni and Progression Evening. Thanks to all those universities, employers and training providers for attending!

Congratulations to:

Jacob in Year 10 who was nominated for a Principal’s Pen by Mrs Shakespeare – Head of Science.

Under his own steam he has taken all the sayings and actions used to help students learn the science knowledge and made them into images and prompts for learning. He then also prepared a presentation which shows real initiative.

Sohail in Year 12 who helped a student who was injured on the way home.  A real role model for St Paul’s!
