In 2022, the Chinese New Year will be celebrated on the 1st of February. 2022 is the Year of the Tiger and more precisely, the Water Tiger.

The Tiger symbolises power in Chinese culture. It’s also seen as brave, cruel and forceful.

Discussion ideas

What year were you born?

Which animal does your birthday year represent?

Think about the strength and the weakness of the animal?

How does that relate to you?

How to make red lanterns?

We are delighted to celebrate our Green Flag status as well as our as well as our Bronze and Silver Eco Schools Awards. Next stop Gold …….

Thank you to Mrs Chapman, Deacon Seamus, Mr Chapman and our school Eco Team.

The Dance, Drama and Music department were delighted to share the work of our talented students from all year groups with our annual ‘Snowcase’ show in December. Although the show was needed to be recorded and live-streamed our students did not disappoint! Students performed beautifully and should be proud of their performances that they had worked so hard on.

A special thank you to Gilroy our technician for recording and editing the show.

We are reading Horror in the library over the next two weeks. Class genre lessons help students understand the author’s way of expression and it improves their own writing skills. Students have completed book reviews as a group and looked at the describing words in the text

Some ideas for parents:
Ask your child what they are reading?
What vocabulary is in the text?
Setting the scene?

Home games:
Thinking of spooky words
Own story scene setting
