Monday saw the first day of WOW week for two years and the students in Year 10 embraced the challenges faced amazingly well throughout the day!

Our students engaged with a range of professionals from different business sectors in the Speed Networking activity. The sectors represented included the hospitality sector; the army; police force; national charity organisations; the clergy; engineering and many, many more. The networking activity gave our students an opportunity to discuss the various job roles, the day-to-day experience of professionals, their salary and requirements for entry to the roles. The professionals commented very positively on how thoughtful our students’ questions were and how wonderfully presented they were for the day.

The second part of the day included a range of ’employment ready’ tasks. These tasks included reflecting on their own personal skills and attributes; considering ethical and moral dilemmas in the workplace; developing team work and communication skills to problem solve and learning how to think creatively when in an interview situation.

An excellent day had by all and we very much look forward to seeing how the students continue to flourish throughout the week in challenging situations and continue to develop their employability skills in real life workplaces.
