As we return to school for the Lent term we prayed this morning for all Catholics as we journey through Lent. Lent is a 40-day journey of prayer, fasting, and repentance in preparation for the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a time to deepen our faith and relationship with God.
We also prayed for our Muslim staff, students and parents who are making their journey through Ramadan. This is a sacred time of fasting from dawn to sunset, prayer, charity, and renewed devotion to Allah.
May this shared beginning inspire mutual respect, understanding, and peace among communities of faith.

Tuesday 6th January The Feast of the Epiphany – when the wise men, visited the baby Jesus.  This feast brings to a conclusion our Christmas celebrations. It is a custom to bless our doors on this day so that we are all blessed, as we walk through our school. The CMB stands for the names given to the Magi, but also ‘Christus Mansionem Benedicat’ – Latin for ‘Christ bless this place’ and the first two numbers of the year + C + M + B + the last two numbers of the year.

20 + C + M + B + 26

Today we were blessed and privileged with a school visit from Bishop Patrick McKinney, Bishop of Nottingham and Episcopal Vicar for Catholic Education, Fr. Simon Gillespie.

The day started with a prayer and discussion in our school Chapel, led by our student Christian Union Group followed by a tour of our school, with Mrs. Conaghan visiting RE lessons where students asked Bishop Patrick some well thought out and probing questions , which he responded to very well. A group of Sixth Form students hosted lunch and Deacon Seamus and students from the Ceferino group met with Bishop Patrick after lunch, to discuss the Gift of Grace model, followed by a Q & A session.

It was an absolute joy to welcome Bishop Patrick and Fr. Simon, thank you for visiting St. Paul’s. 💜🧡

We are super proud of our Year 7 student William, who won the Attenborough Award for the 11–15 age group. The ‘slugs’ that William made, baked, and painted are now on display at The People’s Exhibition 2025, at Leicester Museum & Art Gallery, 53 New Walk, Leicester LE1 7EA and will remain on display, until 30 January 2026. Congratulations and well done William on receiving this award 💜🧡🏆🎉

We were invited by our local Counsellor to attend the Remembrance Service today, at the War Memorial in Evington. A group of  our ‘cadet’ students represented St. Paul’s and delivered a presentation; the whole school, observed the 2 minute silence. “On the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day of the eleventh month – we will remember them”🌸💜🧡

Year 13 politics students have had the opportunity to hear from and question two former congressmen, Mike Ross (Democrat- Arkansas) and Jeff Duncan (Republican- South Carolina) in an event at De Montfort University . This unique opportunity gave Year 13 students the opportunity to develop their knowledge of US Politics for their examinations

Today the semi final of the St Thomas Aquinas Public Speaking competition with students from De Lisle College; English Martyrs’; St. Martins and St. Pauls took place. Congratulations to St. Paul’s student Korede, who has made it through to the senior final later this month. We  are super proud of all our students who competed today … you all spoke with maturity and passion. 💜🧡

In memory of our lovely Harrison who lost his life to cancer, we did a balloon release with Harrison’s mum, dad, siblings, staff and friends. We will forever be blessed to have had Harrison in our lives. Rest in Peace Harrison 💙

We love seeing our schools come together! Here’s a wonderful photo of the joint choir from St Paul’s and English Martyrs’ performing at the Nostra Aetate celebration, a beautiful event highlighting Catholic involvement in interreligious dialogue at St Chad’s Cathedral.

The choir, led by Liam Leonard from English Martyrs’, gave a truly uplifting performance.  They sang pieces ranging from Dona Nobis Pacem to the theme tune of Pocahontas, concluding with the Magnificat at the Vespers service. Bishop Patrick thanked the students for giving up their afternoon on the last Sunday of half term holiday. They sang to two Cardinals, a number of Bishops and representatives from the Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh and Buddhist faiths. Both schools were honoured to be invited to take part by Bishop Patrick 💜🧡🎶
