We are so proud of our three St Paul’s students who represented our school at the St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Multi-Academy Trust Public speaking competition that was held today.
Dhruv won the Junior title with his passionate speech: Leicester: The beauty and richness of the city we love.
Davidzo won the Senior title with a fantastic speech: Body Image, The impact social media has on teenage girls.
Finally, Caragh won the senior ‘best speech’ award: Why feminism is still needed in the world.
Public speaking is a life-long skill that will be invaluable to students in their future education and careers, as well as boosting self confidence, improving persuasion and influencing skills and also devloping critical thinking.
Well done Dhruv, Davidzo and Caragh – we are so proud of you!
We’re all about sharing and collaboration and last night’s curriculum showcase which involved subject leaders and governors was an opportunity for teachers to showcase their subjects. It was a fantastic evening!
At St Paul’s World Book Day 2024, we celebrate and enjoy reading for pleasure.

As a part of National Careers Week, today we welcomed Nav from ASK Apprenticeships who delivered assemblies to Year 10, 11 and Sixth Form introducing our students to the opportunities open within apprenticeships from Level 2 up to Level 7 qualifications. Nav also delivered two great workshops for a group of Year 10’s and 11’s.
We welcomed historian Jim Butler who is an expert in the history of Leicester. Jim spoke to students about the diversity in Leicester over time exploring our exciting and surprising links to African ancestry in Roman Leicester. Students have learnt about census data, migration to Leicester, where the name Leicester came from and some of the surprising archaeological finds over the years!
Our Diversity Committee have put together and delivered an assembly on LGBT+ History Month which is a national event that takes places in February. They taught students about the historical key events and figures of the LGBT+ rights movement before exploring the official teaching of the church of accepting with sensitivity, compassion and respect and some examples of Pope Francis doing this. They then invited all present to pray with us to fulfill the call of the Catechism to avoid any unjust discrimination directed towards the LGBT+ community.
