We were delighted to open our new School Chapel in September 2020 with money generously raised by students, staff and the local catholic community.
The Nativity Chapel is named after the Sisters of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary who first came to Evington Hall to offer education to children from the local area. These sisters joined with the Sisters of Charity of St Paul to open the Nativity Convent School, which in 1977 joined with Corpus Christi Catholic School to become the new St Paul’s Catholic School.
We were able to use the stone altar top and consecration stone from the original altar situated in the former chapel, but have incorporated a new designed base for the altar. This altar stone came from the Junior Seminary at Tollerton when it closed, so that the school could offer Mass for vocations to the Priesthood and Religious life. We also have a stone from Mount St Bernard Abbey that was blessed by Pope (now Saint) John Paul II.
Our Chapel contains a beautiful stained glass window co-designed by students and staff incorporating our school badge, school prayer and motto and Stations of the Cross designed by our students.
