“O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. Yonder is the sea, great and wide, creeping things innumerable are there, living things both small and great.”

Psalm 104:24-25

  • Our Sustainability Team have planted a number of trees and hedge plants provided by The Woodland Trust.  They include native species such as Oak and Wild Cherry which will help to improve habitat availability for wildlife around our school site.
  • We have been growing Tomatoes, Cucumbers and Chili plants in the Polytunnel, thanks to a kind donation from Coles Plant Centre.  Students have grown these from seed and re-potted as the plants thrived during the warm summer weather.  We have had an offer from another local company to provide irrigation equipment, to improve our ability grow next season
  • The team has sown wildflower seeds around the perimeter of our site, so that next spring, we will have a colourful display of native species which will benefit pollinators and improve biodiversity in our area.
  • In the raised beds, students have been growing Beetroot, Carrots, Leeks, Beans and Pumpkins, with the Beetroot being the most successful crop by far.  We hope to partner with local groups who can put our produce to good use in the communities they help.
  • Students are promoting recycling in school, with new bins available for clean, dry recyclables and food waste.
