Year 10 student English student Chelsea Watts came a very commendable second in the prestigious Sue Townsend Creative Writers award hosted and sponsored by De Montfort University on Friday 4 October. Her imaginative and beautifully crafted short story was well received by the judging panel chaired by local Leicester writer Bali Rai. Chelsea also made an unexpected, profound and heartfelt speech to the audience of writers, parents, teachers and students.
Named in honour of the famous author and creator of the unforgettable Adrian Mole, this award drew entries from schools in Leicester and Leicestershire. Chelsea received a framed certificate and some Amazon vouchers for her entry.
Very well done Chelsea, you were a credit to the school.
