This week the English faculty led a successful A level trip to the Sam Wannamaker Playhouse in London to see Shakespeare’s Richard II. The performance had the first ever full ‘women of colour’ cast in the UK, which gave a whole new angle to the characters.
The theatre is attached to the Globe, and follows the design of an Elizabethan indoor theatre, meaning there was no electricity and the whole play was performed by candlelight, lending it an intimate atmosphere.
Many thanks to the students who attended. They were exemplary, as ever!
